château de puyguilhem,built during the first renaissance  The château is situated 800m from the village of Villars. It was built during the First Renaissance and is as fine an example of a François 1st château as any to be found in the Loire Valley.built in the First Renaissance and the subject of an exceptional 20 year restoration period.  Notable is a superb oak ceiling in the form of the upturned hull of a boat. The extent and richness of the sculpture (lucarnes, machicolations, stairways, panelled ceilings, fireplaces and overmantels - described as a labour of Hercules) contributes to the elegance of the building.
