The road 39/45

The purpose of the road 39/45 is to make you discover a historical circuit gathering the museums and sites of the 2nd world war, all different and complementary.

Museum of the oostende  The Museum of the Atlantic Wall is a museum of full air. It contains a single whole of the fortification of the two world wars: more than sixty constructions and two kms of undergrounds. Certain constructions were restored and refitted with authentic objects.

Le fort de breendonk  Built and used during the First World War it will be modified, and used in camps transient of concentration during the 2nd world war. The places which the prisoners of the Nazis knew have was maintained in the state in which they were found in 1944. Only the buildings without historical interest were arranged in room of documentation or meditation. * With proximity in the town of Malignant, visit the Jewish Museum of the Deportation and Resistance.

The blockhouse of eperlecques  The blockhouse of Eperlecques is the largest bunker of the North of France classified as an historic building.

La base v3 de mimoyecques  Between September 1943 and July 1944, several thousands of workers off-set or German political prisoner dug in Mimoyecques, the gun of London! Five wells, sheltering each one 5 guns 130 m length, having to fire a shell from 150 Misters These 25 guns were to allow a shooting every 6 seconds. Following the allied bombardment of July 6, 1944, this device intended to bombard London from the coasts of Bolted. It will never be useful.

Le musée d'ambleteuse  The museum of Ambleteuse is a homage to all the veterans of the 2nd World war. On 800m2, chronological presentation of the events of the invasion of Poland in 1939, with the bomb of Hiroshima in 1945.  Soldiers of the various armies put in situation. Thousands of exposed objects.  A clear and teaching presentation accessible to all.  Projection of a film devoted to the battle of Normandy in a true room of the Forties.

Museum of the atlantic wall  The Museum of the Atlantic Wall is located in one of the Blockhouses of the Battery Todt, one of seven larger constructions of the German army, sheltering a gun of 380 mm marine artillery. You can discover there more than 3 000 parts exposed in more than 10 rooms. At outside are exhibited various vehicles and pieces of artillery of which K5, German gun of 280 mm marine artillery, on railway.
