  Built alongside the Loire, to support important exchanges between the cities of the kingdom of France, Nantes' Castle is both a residential palace and a military defensive fortress.
  In 1466, François II, Duke of Brittany, began the construction of the castle, which was continued by his daughter Anne of Brittany from 1491, date of her wedding to Charles VIII, king of France. In 1598, Henri IV signed the Edict of Nantes here.

  The building of the St-Pierre and St-Paul Cathedral began in 1434. In the 19th century, it was finally finished, 457 years later. Inside, we find the tombs of François II, last Duke of Brittany, and Marguerite de Foix, his second wife. The marbles were sculpted by Michel Colomb and completed by 1507.
