The lot valley along the water recently been re-opened to navigation

This tour will take you along the banks of a natural feature that has only recently been re-opened to navigation. the famous ente plum orchards line the river and stretch up into the hills and the high ground is dominated by traditional villages.

villeneuve-sur-lot, history and sporting town  This Bastide is the second most important administrative town of the Lot-et-Garonne and conceals some charming shopping streets.  A historic town, but also a sporting centre : Villeneuve founded the first Rugby League team in France.  Visit of : the chapel " at the end of the bridge ", the Pujols and Paris gate-towers, the Eysses tower and the National Studfarm.

Casseneuil, the little venise  Known as " Little Venice ", it owes this soubriquet to its position on a peninsula where the Rivers Lède and Lot meet.  Attractive half-timbered houses.  Visit of : the beautiful Banks of the Lède, the 12th - 15th century church with its listed frescoes.

temple-sur-lot, lot valley  Watersports Leisure Centre.  Visit also : the 12th century command post of the Knights Templar; Ets Latour-Marliac, the world-famous waterlily nursery.

Castelmoron, village is a beautiful centre for river tourism  The village is a centre for River Tourism with a large port, the port of Lalande.  Walks around the Rocher.  Visit of : the 19th century Town Hall in the Moorish style  Boat ride

granges-sur-lot in the lot of valley  A Bastide founded in 1281.  Landscaped walks along the riverbanks.  Visit of: the church of St Damien with its listed altar; the Prune Museum.

pujols, one of france's most beautiful villages  A fortified village perched at 130 m above sea level, Pujols is listed as " one of France's most beautiful villages " and offers many spectacular viewing points.  Visit of: the church of St.Nicolas and its 14th century belltower and door; St.Foy church with its Gothic frescoes.

penne d'agenais and basilica of notre-dame de peyragude  Perched at 217 metres above sea level, this 13th century fortified village is dominated by a basilica. Built on a hillside, it was ravaged in the Crusade against the Albigensians and in the Wars of Religion.  Staging post on the road to Santiago de Compostella.  Park around the old castle.  Botanic walk.  Landscaped lake.  Visit also: the 20th century Basilica of Notre-Dame de Peyragude.
