Between 1920 and 1940, Côte d'Azur was a laboratory of prestigious and innovative architectural achievements thanks to fortunate sponsors. Sainte-Maxime is one of the rare cities of the Var department to preserve a rich architectural heritage dating from the 1920 to 1940 thanks in particular to the architecte Rene Darde (1883-1960). He was the head of the neoregionalism of Provence movement and worked on the Côte d' Azur and in particular in Sainte-Maxime.
