During a guided tour of Anjou, your hosts Catherine & Hervé de Craecker will introduce you to the wonders of Loire Valley Castles and superb Loire landscapes ; the Loire Castles are the jewels of the old province of Anjou, rich with history and legends.
From the early earls of Anjou until the Plantagenets and up to the end of the French Renaissance, these historic buildings evoke the history of life in Anjou and along the Loire valley. The Loire Valley has for several years been listed in the World Heritage by UNESCO. During your discovery tour, you will see the vineyards set along the Loire Valley, you will visit some famous cellars and you will be able to sample Anjou and Loire wines.
The Anjou and Loire wines will also be served, along with the specialties from Anjou gastronomy which will be proposed during your evening dinner at your hosts table. After the sightseeing tour and dinner, you will be able to enjoy the confort of recently renovated bedrooms in the XVIth century estate where you are staying.
Discover castle
Each day we will take you to visit two castles (from medieval strongholds to Renaissance style chateaux), taste the wines produced in the area, and enjoy Anjou gastronomy at our table.
Visit of langeais castle
Founded by the powerful Earl of Anjou, Foulques Nerra, around year 1000; today's castle was initially built by Jean Bourré for Louis XIth during the XVth century.
Visit of chinon castle
The work of the Earls of Blois, then from 1044 of the Earls of Anjou. Henri IInd Plantagenêt and Aliénor of Aquitaine lived here; the former died in Chinon in 1189.
This Castle was the venue of many historic events, including the first meeting between Charles VIIth and Joan of Arc.
Visit of plessis bourré castle
Built by Jean Bourré, an advisor of Louis XIth, this is a masterpiece of XVth century architecture, a stronghold and a palace in one.
Visit of serrant castle
A medieval stronghold rebuilt by Charles de Brie into a renaissance palace during the XIVth century. It is emblematic of the period.
Visit of the royal abbey of fontevraud
Founded by Robert of Arbrissel in 1101, it reminisces of Aliénor of Aquitaine, Richard Ist and Henri IInd Plantagenet.

Visit of brissac castle
« le géant du val de Loire »
This castle has 7 floors and 204 rooms. Acquired by René of Cossé in 1502, it is today the residence of the 13th Duke of Brissac.
