Mittelbergheim, one of the nicest villages.

Mittelbergheim is one of the hundred most beautiful villages in France. This is due to its situation, just below the mountains, in the middle of the wine yards. In the village centre, next to the two bell-towers church, the streets go up and down, showing little decorated yards which invite you to taste the delicious wines or to listen the interesting story of the village’s birth. On the wine path, there is a nice view upon Andlau, another village on the Wine Route. A stork has chosen to settle there on a roof top.

It was built by Rodolphe of Andlau in 1337. 15 min later, you can reach the ruins of the Spesbourg castle which has been built by Alexandre of Dicka to protect the Abbey-churchof Andlau. These two ruins are situated at a height of more than 400m. Around the castles, you can see majestic fir tree forests.

Only one road leads to this little village at the end of a valley. It is just situated in the wine yards at the bottom of the mountain. The village is very quiet and lifestyle is still preserved there. From here you can also walk to the summit of the Ungersberg’s at a high of 901m.
