Barjac

  Situated between the Cèze River gorges and the Ardèche, Barjac has a great view of the Cévennes mountains.
  Barjac is a Renaissance town. Visit of :
  The old town center, where you can see examples of its local heritage -- alleyways, squares, and houses -- which have been renovated under the close supervision of the architects of the "Bâtiments de France."
  The castle of the Comtes du Roure, whose courtyard contains a keep made of cut stones, once called the "Citadelle."

The only remains of the past are the ruins of a former Benedictine grotto monastery and the square tower of the castle.

  The village of Goudargues has been dubbed the "Venice of the Gard." Visit of :
  Salle capitulaire (ruins of the abbey).

Carthusian monastery of valbonne

Carthusian monastery of valbonne


  The Carthusian Monastery of Valbonne, inscribed on the list of historical monuments, was founded in 1204 by Guilhem de Vénéjan, bishop of Uzès, and rebuilt in the 17th century. It housed the Carthusian order until 1901.

  This small medieval village was built on a rocky peak, and it offers a splendid view of the natural landmark of the Cascades du Sautadet. Visit of :

Saint gervais

Saint gervais


  Saint Gervais is a village that boasts a 5000- year history, and it has also been able to maintain its rural character. Visit of :
  The parish church which houses the relics of Saint Firmin and Saint Victor (Roman martyrs).
  The fountain from 1767 which supplies a wash-house with water from the springs of la Grand Font.
  The 13th-century fortified house, which became a castle in 1607.
