In the 18th century, Jean-Jacques Peugeot, a miller, passed on to his children and grandchildren a grainmill: the 'Sous Cratet' mill of Herimoncourt. His descendants Jean-Pierre II and Jean-Frédéric PEUGEOT moved to BEALIEU where started the cycles manufacturing.
In 1889, the 1st vapour tricycle (Serpollet-Peugeot), 1st automotive vehicle, leaved the workshops to be presented at the World Fair of Paris.
In 1912, the firm of Sochaux settled in the plain of the Vouaivre.
Nowadays Peugeot firms have become PSA Peugeot Citroën, and are still in the original site of Sochaux Montbéliard. 22,000 persons work in it, and 2,000 cars leave the manufacturing-lines every day.

Mandeure archeological site
Imposing reminder (20 000 seats) of the great Roman construction techniques at the end of the 1st century. The theatre of Mandeure is one of the biggest theatres in Gaul with its diametral façade of 142 m of its 4 floors of tiers. Its total amount of accommodation was considerable for a secondary town such as EPOMANDUODURUM. Thus it was certainly a place of pilgrimage.

Chateau de belvoir
A 12th Century medieval castle built on a fortified hill, overlooking the Sancey valley. It is one of the most beautiful fortified castle in Franche-Comte. The entirely restored apartments display significant collections of paintings and furniture from the 17th to the 20th Century.

Dessoubre valley
From the top of "Roche du Pretre" (Priest's rock) the view extends over the valley and a natural amphitheater called "Cirque de Consolation".
