Philippe Kammerzell, who was proprietor in the middle of the XIXth century, was a grocer, and Martin Braun, who constructed the house in the XVIth century, a cheese merchant.

Visite of the saint-pierre-le-jeune church of mulhouse  In 1031 begins the construction of the present church on the site of a merovinginian chapel dedicated to Saint Colomban.  It was consecrated in 1053 by the Alsatian pope Léon IX. The present Gothic church, former college, kept the basis of the bell-tower-porch and some walls of the Romanesque building.  It is endowed with a remarkable jubé, beautiful frescos of the XIVth century and a cloister where column elements of the XIth century subsist.

On the footsteps of goethe of strasbourg  Goethe arrived in Strasbourg by coach on april 2nd 1770, he was 21 years old and was sent by his father to finish his law studies and perfect his french. He stayed at the Hotel de l'Esprit, quai St.Thomas, before renting a room 36 rue du Vieux-Marché-aux-Poissons...  Goethe is the only writer to have his statue, Place de l'Université.
