Aigues-Mortes
Established about 300 years ago, this weather-worn inn lies at the foot of the Tour de Constance, adjacent to the medieval fortifications. Popular and often fully booked (especially in summer), it evokes the Middle Ages with charm and a sense of nostalgia. The rooms with simple furniture are accessible via narrow stone staircases. Each comes with a rather thin but reasonably comfortable mattress and a small bathroom. Breakfast is the only meal served.
